With winter rapidly approaching and the summer days starting to fade, can you imagine being able to relax in your warm and tranquil beach inspired hideaway? Now you can… quickly, easily and economically with two new ceiling panels.

Our new line of Pecky Cypress ceiling panels brings a little taste to Key West right into your room. The Pecky Cypress Ceiling panels are made from polyurethane and are very easy to install, they do not warp, crack, split, or interest insects.

The panels are tongue and groove which is also referred to as T & G.

  • Model P 01 – Measures 96”L x 15”W x ¾”D
    • The panel is molded to appear that there are three separate cypress boards connecting to one another through a V-joint. The boards measure 5” wide a piece,  which makes up the 15” wide panel. The pecky appears to be moderately aged. The heavier the pecky the older the wood.  There are several molds that make up this model, which ensures a natural looking final project.  A soft raised grain can be seen running throughout the panel.

  •
    • Model P 02 – 108”L x 6”W x ¾”D
      • This aged pecky panel is made up of three individual pieces of cypress replicas. The panels have strong pecky markings running throughout, along with a medium distress grain. The sides of the panels have been “rabbit eared” to allow for a quick and simple installation.

Pictured below is our new P 02 pecky cypress panel along with the STB 20 faux wood beam. These photos are a sneak peak of a project which was filmed for a home improvement special. The show will air in the beginning of 2011 which will also correspond with the panels being on display at the International Builders Show in January.

As you can see the aged pecky panel mixed with the raised grain contemporary faux beam brings a Key West charm to this room. This “Florida Room” truly feels like you’re footsteps away from the soft white sand beaches and cool ocean breezes.

Superior Faux Wood Beams

Category : Faux Wood Beams, Feature Design Friday

As you enter through the doorway, you are immediately taken back by the ceiling souring into the sky.  Large time weathered rustic beams over head, in a breath taking wagon wheel pattern. These beams look like they weigh 1000’s of pounds, and have been aging in a barn for decades.

The real secret is that no trees were harmed in the creation of this memorable ceiling.  These faux beams or false beams are made from quality polyurethane, which make the ceiling beams very light weight, and easy to install. The beams over head weigh a fraction of what real beams weigh. With the average faux wood beam weighing less than 15lbs, this ceiling has less than 150 lbs of faux beams attached to it.

With the faux wood beams being so lightweight, you do not have to worry about reinforcing the ceiling.

Faux Wood Beams & Crown Moulding

Category : Faux Wood Beams, Feature Design Friday

Today’s Feature Friday highlights an out of the box design concept that really changes a room’s atmosphere.

Traditionally when thinking about installing faux wood planks, the idea of installing them along the ceiling is the first thought that comes to mind. Often when the planks are used along the ceiling, faux wood beams are then installed over them to add additional depth.

In the below picture, the designer intented to create a western style game/bar room.  The house has traditional moulding running throughout but a room with a different feel was desiredfor the entertaining area.

The T 28 faux wood ceiling plank was used as a door surround in this picture. In addition to the door surround it was used as the backsplash for the bar area and a decorative accent under the bar table top. The PM 12 plank was used as the window surrounds and baseboards and was installed with a 45 degree miter cut to create a perfect frame. To continue the flow of this western style room, the PM 09 was used to join all of the planks together. The PM 09 is the smaller plank that connects the PM 12 window surround and baseboard to the T 28 door surround.

To help the transition from the game room to the remaining of the house, the UT 9805 crown molding (moulding) was installed along the ceiling.

As a side note, if you are considering designing a similar i style room, faux wood corbels provide a great design aspect under a countertop & or bar area.

Category : Faux Wood Beams, Feature Design Friday

From the most primitive structures designed thousands of years ago to the elaborate architectural marvels of today and tomorrow, ceiling beams have played an important role. Traditionally, ceiling beams helped to hold together the structural integrity of a building. We have come a long way in design and development since their original intent. Now ceiling beams are an architectural enhancement that focus and transforms a room in a multitude of ways. Ceiling beams can be used to bring a high ceiling down in scale, and to break up the length and height of a large room. Truss, grids, and wagon wheels are just a few of the endless design possibilities that ceiling beams can offer.

Today’s Ceiling beams aren’t just made from wood anymore. Faux Wood Ceiling Beams are the preferred medium for most designers and builders today. Faux Wood Beams, can bring a lightweight, easy to install, Earth friendly solution to any architectural pallet. In addition, Faux Wood Ceiling Beams are an economical way to bring a rich design to any room while saving time and money.

The purpose of ceiling beams may have changed over time, but the architectural enhancements they bring to a room can be unquestionably inspiring.

In today’s feature Friday design, we are highlighting a faux ceiling beam design in midst of construction.

Soaring over 25 feet into the air a beautifully laid out wagon wheel design is created by utilizing the T/MB 30 Faux Wood Ceiling Beam, S 02 Faux Iron Strap, and the T 28 Faux Wood Plank. The picture shows 7 T 30 faux beams and the mounting blocks of where the final eighth beam will be located. The beams extend out from the wall to the center of the room, where an octagon center has been created from the T 28 Faux Wood Ceiling Plank. The S 02 Faux Iron Strap is placed in the center of each beam purely for esthetic purposes. From the center of the T 28 octagon hangs the lighting connection for a Mediterranean inspired chandler.
