Feature Design Friday Faux Beams and Crown Mouldings

Category : Feature Design Friday

In today’s feature Friday, we are spotlighting a trey ceiling that has utilized faux beams, crown mouldings, and faux painting.

Trey ceilings come in a variety of size, shapes, heights, depths, and designs. There are a number of unique and beautiful ways to make your trey ceiling standout. Often crown moulding will be the focal point of the trey with a rope lighting running behind the mouldings to illuminate the trey during evening hours.

In the below application the UP-5120 Superior Crown Moulding was installed followed by the T 20a faux wood beam. The faux wood beam was typically installed with a wood block mounted on the ceiling ever 4 feet. For full installation instructions please click here for a video. The faux beams were scribed on the end to create a perfect snug fit against the crown moulding.

The easiest method to join beams together is by using a faux Iron strap. Faux iron straps are made from rubber similar to a bicycle inner tube.

Faux iron straps are very flexible and can easily be adhered with an adhesive.

There are three authentic looking faux iron straps to choose from.

  • S 01 – is ½ inches wide by 41 inches long.
  • S02 – is 3 inches wide by 41 inches long.
  • S06 – is 6 inches wide by 44 inches long.
